A rare large George III mahogany partners desk, English, Circa 1770.
It is really wonderful to see a desk of this age in such superb condition.
A well drawn model with a fantastic new hand dyed tan leather inset and tooled edge. This top sits above 3 drawers along the top and 4 drawers down each pedestal at the front, with 2 drawers along the top above a cupboard door on each pedestal on the opposite side.
Designed for 2 people to work opposite each other, this lovely partners desk is a good size and has a lovely colour.
This desk comes in 3 parts for transport.
The drawers have cockbeaded fronts and are of solid oak dovetailed construction, retaining their original brass swan neck handles and locks.
The cupboard doors have working locks and 1 key, with a single shelf inside one cupboard and 2 shelves inside the other.
Finished with decorative moulding to the sides with brass carry handles, and moulding continued on the inside of each pedestal.
A heavy and well made quality desk, ready for use.
