An attractive hand-knotted Afghan wool rug in the traditional Persian Heriz style, featuring a richly coloured red ground centred by an elaborate geometric medallion in deep blue and ivory.
The central field is densely decorated with stylised flowers, scrolling foliage and geometric motifs in shades of cream, blue, green and gold. Contrasting ivory spandrels frame the central design, while a broad deep blue border, richly ornamented with floral motifs, is enclosed by several narrower decorative borders.
The rug has a traditional wool pile with fringed ends and a particularly pleasing combination of vibrant colours and intricate detailing.
A generously proportioned and decorative rug, well suited to a sitting room, dining room or larger interior.
