A very elegant early 19th century mahogany writing table, dating to circa 1820, decorated with fine satinwood style inlay and retaining its original character and charm. This refined piece features a beautifully proportioned rectangular top inset with a rich brown leather writing surface, finished with delicate gilt tooling around the border which provides both practicality and decorative appeal.
The frieze is fitted with three drawers, including a central drawer flanked by two side drawers, each adorned with attractive brass swan-neck handles. The drawer fronts are beautifully decorated with delicate inlaid swag and bow motifs, a popular neoclassical design element of the period. The corners of the table are further enhanced with vertical inlaid decoration, adding subtle refinement to the overall design.
Raised on slender tapering legs terminating in spade feet, the table has a graceful and balanced silhouette typical of the Regency period. The drawers open smoothly and are traditionally constructed, offering useful storage for writing materials or desk accessories.
