A top quality early Georgian mahogany serving tray, English, circa 1740. Of generous oval form, the tray is beautifully shaped with a raised gallery edge and retains its finely carved integral handles, each crisply detailed with fluted scroll terminals. The tray is cut from well-figured mahogany of rich colour and depth, showing excellent patination and surface character developed over time.
The proportions are particularly pleasing, and the simplicity of the design allows the quality of the timber and craftsmanship to speak for itself. The surface displays honest signs of age consistent with use, further enhancing its authenticity and appeal.
A highly decorative early Georgian serving tray, equally suited for practical use, coffee table display or as a statement decorative object in both period and contemporary interiors.
