A highly decorative Victorian twin pedestal desk in the Chinoiserie style, dating to around 1880. The desk features intricate hand-painted scenes of figures, birds, and landscapes across the drawer fronts and side panels, all set against a black lacquered ground with gilt detailing.
The top has a replaced burgundy leather writing surface with tooled and gilt decoration, complementing the original painted borders. With an arrangement of nine drawers and a generous kneehole space (53cm), this desk combines striking aesthetic appeal with practical function.
