Beautifully coloured map of Great Britain and Ireland with a large decorative cartouche, with in set of the Shetland Islands.
The Homanns were a most prolific family of German engravers, mapmakers and publishers. In 1730, after the death of the grandson, J.Ch. Homann, of the firm’s founder Johann Baptist Homann, the company became known as Homann Heirs until its closure in c1852.
