A fine example of an antique Wernicke patent elastic bookcase, stamped and dated 15 May 1900. Manufactured by Wernicke of Minneapolis, shortly after the company merged with Globe in 1899, this piece showcases the early craftsmanship that made Globe-Wernicke bookcases world-famous.
Constructed in rich mahogany, the bookcase features two glazed sliding shelves, perfect for displaying antique books, collectibles, or decorative objects while keeping them dust-free. The original makers’ stamp authenticates its provenance. A practical lower drawer provides additional storage for papers or small items, making it ideal for a home library, study, or office.
This classic stacking bookcase retains its original patina and is in excellent condition for its age, combining functionality with Edwardian-era elegance.
A sought-after piece for lovers of antique furniture, barrister bookcases, and early 20th-century American craftsmanship.
