A superb Victorian silver plated Corinthian column table lamp, dating to circa 1880, of elegant and classical design.
The fluted column is surmounted by a finely cast Corinthian capital, richly detailed with acanthus leaves, and raised on a stepped square base adorned with applied wreath motifs. The whole stands on distinctive lion’s paw feet, giving the piece both presence and a strong architectural character.
The silver plating has mellowed beautifully over time, developing a soft, aged patina that enhances the depth and detail of the casting. The proportions are particularly pleasing, making it an ideal statement piece for a side table, console, or desk.
