A good 19th-century Victorian pine chest of drawers of particularly useful proportions.
The rectangular moulded top sits above an arrangement of two short over three long graduated drawers, each fitted with turned wooden knob handles and retaining its original key escutcheons.
Raised on a simple plinth base, the chest has a lovely warm, mellow colour and pleasingly understated appearance. The pine shows attractive variations in tone, together with the marks and wear expected from age and use, giving the piece plenty of character.
A practical and increasingly popular country house piece, offering generous storage without being overly imposing and equally suited to a bedroom, dressing room or informal living space.
