A charming late Victorian oak desk chair dating to around 1890, beautifully made and full of character. The chair features a shaped curved backrest with a gently swept silhouette, supported by an elegant fan-shaped splat. The curved arms have a sculptural quality, flowing naturally into the shaped seat rails.
The solid oak seat is well-figured with attractive grain, and the whole piece stands on cabriole-influenced legs united by stretchers for strength and stability. The proportions are comfortable and practical, making it ideal for use at a writing table, desk, or as a decorative occasional chair.
