A Victorian oak church altar, crafted in solid oak and offered in wonderful antique condition. The broad, well‑proportioned top has a rich, mellow patina, with a gilt cross pattée neatly inlaid to each corner. The front boasts a series of Gothic arches, each crisply carved and deeply chamfered, with the familiar Communion inscription — “Do this in Remembrance of Me” — beautifully carved and gilded along the upper rail.
Of generous proportion, the piece lends itself beautifully to life beyond its original religious purpose — a striking and characterful option for repurposing as a kitchen island, where its architectural lines and devotional history bring warmth, gravitas, and a sense of story to a contemporary interior.
