TWO (2) rare & beautiful Persian inlaid Boxes c1920 AMAZING miniature paintings Gold

We are very pleased to be able to offer these rare and delightful boxes that are around 100 years old.

The painting is of real high quality as you can see from the images.
What is remarkable is that one of the boxes is in amazing, fresh condition and was in perfect condition when I purchased it a few years ago. However, due to central heating in our home, there is now a split on the top as shown in the images provided. This type of box and the wood used in making them does not do well in dry rooms created by central heating!

Both of these boxes were purchased by us in the past twenty years but from two different antiques dealers.
We believe that some of the scenes are of the famous fable of Khusraw and Shirin, an ancient story of love in Persian folklore.

There is some delightful detailed painting on these boxes with bright blue, red and wonderful gold paint!

The micro mosiac inlay in absolutely amazing – do not confuse these with the modern ones made in the 1960’s and onwards where there is no actual inlay but strips of printed plastic made to look like micro mosaic inlay.

The other box is in a condition that is nowadays common with some splits and small piece of the inlay missing.

These wonderful works of art each measures 17cm x 5cm high x 10cm.
