Circa 1850. Superb marquetry inlaid walnut Louis XV style ladies writing desk in original condition
with a variegated pink and cream marble top with ormolu mounts and three-quarter gallery over an inlaid frieze. The cylinder top with lyre and foliate decoration, ormolu handles and escutcheons opening to an inlaid fitted interior with inlaid drawers and a sliding writing surface. The base with three short and one long drawer with ormolu escutcheons, working locks and original key. The drawers with solid oak linings (sign of great quality). The shaped frieze with foliate decorations and supported on cabriole legs with ormolu sabots. The sides with wonderful marquetry decoration of swags, birds and foliage and a polished back.
