A highly elegant Queen Anne style walnut lowboy or dressing table, dating to the early 20th century, and beautifully constructed in richly figured walnut. This refined piece takes inspiration from early 18th century design, combining graceful proportions with practical functionality.
The rectangular top sits above a well-balanced arrangement of three drawers, comprising a long central drawer flanked by two smaller drawers. Each drawer front is veneered in attractively figured walnut, with warm tones and lively grain, and fitted with classic brass drop handles and escutcheons. The drawers are oak-lined and well-made, running smoothly and offering useful storage.
Below, the shaped apron features a decorative scalloped frieze, adding softness and movement to the design. The table is raised on slender cabriole legs, each carved at the knee with shell motifs and terminating in pad feet, a hallmark of the Queen Anne style.
The overall colour and patina are particularly pleasing, with a mellow warmth that enhances the natural beauty of the walnut. Presented in very good condition, with only minor wear consistent with age, this is a versatile and decorative piece.
Ideal for use as a small dressing table, writing table, or occasional table, it would sit effortlessly within both traditional and contemporary interiors, offering timeless style and understated elegance.
