Description
An endearing and perfectly matched Pair of Mid 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurines, “Darby” ~ HN 1427 and “Joan” ~ HN 1422. Darby decorated in a pleasing palette of pink and blue, Joan in a soft blue colourway, both designed by leading Doulton artist Leslie Harradine, and issued from 1930 to 1949. The underside of each fully marked in green with the printed Royal Doulton backstamp of the period together with the numeral 13, indicating that these pieces were each potted in 1940. Each figurine further marked as follows, viz :- “Darby”, Rd. No. 757754, { for 1930 }, HN.1427., “Joan”, Rd. No. 757753, { for 1930 }, HN.1422.,each piece with Painter’s Monogram, Darby in green, Joan in blue. T.P., probably for John Pierpoint, recorded as working at Doulton Circa 1927 to 1985.
