Description
Interior Decorators’ Delight ! ~ A large and decorative Pair of Mid 20th Century Vintage American Ceramic Figures of a 19th Century Gallant and his Lady, designed and produced by the Swiss born American sculptor Hedi Schoop. He stands, proudly regarding her, bearing his cane and hat, while she fondly returns his gaze, fan in one hand and reticule in the other. These pieces could with equal fairness be described as figural vases, since the pillars in the background are each made to hold either pot-pourri or a small posy. Each figure impressed / sgraffito signed on the rear of the body with various impressed marks to the bases, together with details of a previous owner written with a security pen.
