A charming and well-matched pair of mid-19th century Victorian mahogany bedside chests, dating to circa 1850. Of compact and practical proportions, these attractive pieces are ideal for use as bedside tables or small storage chests, combining functionality with classic period style.
Each chest is fitted with four graduated drawers, all retaining their original turned wooden knob handles. The drawer fronts display beautifully figured flame mahogany, offering rich colour and striking natural grain, while the solid mahogany sides show warm, mellow tones developed over time.
The tops have softly moulded edges, and the cases are raised on plinth bases, giving the chests a sturdy yet elegant presence. The drawers are well-crafted, with dovetail construction and smooth action, reflecting the quality of Victorian cabinet making.
