A very good late 19th century French oak extending dining table, dating to circa 1880, of elegant proportions and fine quality throughout. The rectangular top is beautifully inlaid with parquetry panels, framed within a moulded border featuring a rope-twist edge, giving the piece both texture and visual interest.
The table is raised on four well-shaped cabriole legs, each carved with subtle detail and joined by a shaped frieze centred with decorative motifs. The rich colour and grain of the oak have developed a warm, even patina, enhancing its overall character and appeal.
Designed with practicality in mind, the table extends with pull-out leaves to either end, allowing it to comfortably accommodate additional seating when required, making it ideal for both everyday use and entertaining.
A versatile and highly decorative example of French country furniture, equally suited to a traditional dining room or a more relaxed, contemporary setting.
