An attractive late 19th century oak dresser base, of particularly useful narrow proportions and incorporating distinctive Gothic-style carved decoration.
The rectangular single plank top sits above three panelled cupboard doors, the two outer doors incorporating richly carved and pierced panels with Gothic-inspired tracery, floral and foliate motifs, flanking a simpler central panelled door.
The three doors open to reveal useful cupboard storage, the whole raised on four square legs with shaped inner corners.
The oak has developed a warm, mellow colour and pleasing surface character, while the long, narrow proportions make this a particularly practical piece for a hallway, dining room or other area where depth is limited.
A decorative and characterful piece of late Victorian oak furniture, combining useful storage with unusual Gothic Revival detailing.
Circa 1880–1900.
