A large and finely decorated Japanese Kutani porcelain charger dating to the Meiji period, circa 1900.
The centre is beautifully painted with a dynamic scene of samurai warriors, one mounted on horseback and accompanied by attendants, set within a landscape featuring blossoming trees and distant figures. The decoration is enriched with finely detailed enamels and gilt highlights, characteristic of Kutani ware of this period.
The border is decorated with traditional stylised motifs in vibrant colours, framing the central scene and adding to the overall visual impact.
The reverse bears a red Kutani mark, consistent with production from the Meiji era.
A striking and decorative example of late 19th / early 20th century Japanese porcelain, ideal as a statement wall piece or display charger.
