A very attractive Georgian-style walnut bachelor’s chest dating from the 1930s, finely made with well-chosen burr and figured walnut veneers. The rectangular top with book-matched burr walnut is framed by a crossbanded edge and moulded lip. Beneath sits the desirable pull-out brushing slide, a key feature of traditional bachelor’s chests.
The arrangement of two short drawers over three long drawers is typical of 18th-century design, each drawer faced with burr walnut, crossbanded, and fitted with period-style brass swan-neck handles. Standing on shaped bracket feet and retaining its warm golden-brown colour and rich patina.
