A fine and elegant Edwardian satinwood dressing table by Mappin & Webb of Oxford Street, London, dating to circa 1900–1910. Of exceptional quality, the upper section is formed as a fully fitted vanity box, veneered in beautifully figured satinwood with striking, lively grain throughout.
The hinged top opens to reveal a superbly appointed interior, complete with original mirror, cut glass bottles and jars, and a comprehensive suite of manicure and grooming implements, many with bone mounts. The interior is thoughtfully arranged with fitted compartments, retaining its original lining and demonstrating the high level of craftsmanship associated with this renowned maker. Additional pull-out trays and side compartments enhance both practicality and charm.
The base stands on elegant tapering legs united by shaped stretchers, giving the piece a refined and balanced silhouette typical of the Edwardian revival of earlier neoclassical styles.
