Exquisite Elephants: PAIR Anglo Indian Desk Pen Holders / Incense c1910
Here are an amazing pair of elephants standing on bases with a fluted extension on their backs.
There is so much detail on this pair and the movement is captured beautifully.
They appear to be in mid stride with one rear leg moving forward.
You can see delightful detailing such as that on the forehead and the carpet over the back of the elephant.
The tusks are sharp and the trunk has ridges towards the end.
The trunks do not touch the base but hang wonderfully in mid air.
The fluted projection on the back could be used for incense sticks, taper candles (thin candles that would fit are available on Amazon) or as desk accessories.
They could also be used a paperweights as each one weighs a solid 400g.
Each elephant measures: 9cm (L) x 5cm (H) x 2.5cm (W) EXCLUDING the base and fluted section.
The base measures 14cm x 8cm and overall height including the fluted section is 13cm.
These delightful elephants are being sold as silver plated but may be low grade silver.
Condition is as shown with some minor tarnish that could be cleaned easily.
There are some small sections of white powder residue which is old silver polish and could easily be removed.
Free UK fully insured shipping is included – non UK buyers please request a quote.
