A well-made Edwardian mahogany magazine rack with drawer, English, circa 1900.
The rack is of rectangular form, fitted with a moulded top above an open magazine compartment divided by shaped internal partitions, allowing for neat and practical storage. The lower section incorporates a full-width drawer, retaining its original ring handles, and is subtly crossbanded, adding a touch of refinement to the overall design.
The piece is raised on turned supports with square section feet terminating in original brass castors, allowing it to be moved easily. The mahogany is of good colour and grain, with attractive patina throughout, and the rack presents well with honest signs of age commensurate with use.
Both decorative and functional, this is a particularly useful piece of Edwardian furniture, ideal for a sitting room, study or beside a sofa or armchair, offering character, storage and versatility in equal measure.
