Description
Newark siege silver ninepence dated 1646 and pierced at the top. No doubt worn around the neck as a symbol of loyalty to King Charles 1st. Some coins were filled in many years ago to appease the collecting market. I like to see the original piercing makes it seem a little more personal. Issued when Newark was under siege from Cromwells forces with silver donated by local townsfolk. Weight 4.27g – Postage included to the UK, any other areas please email me, thank you. £1,450
