Description

An early Georgian elm tripod occasional table, dating to circa 1750.

The circular plank top displays the wonderfully distinctive grain and warm mellow colour associated with elm, with a gently moulded edge and an attractive surface patina developed through many years of use.

The top is raised on a well-turned baluster column, terminating in three boldly shaped cabriole legs with pad feet.

A particularly appealing piece of early Georgian country furniture, combining simple proportions with the rich colour and character of the elm. Its useful size makes it ideal as a lamp table, wine table or occasional table beside a chair or sofa.
