A fine early 19th century Regency period circular convex mirror, dating to circa 1820–1830.
The mirror is set within a giltwood frame with a moulded surround and ebonised slip, retaining its original convex plate which provides a wonderfully atmospheric reflection. The frame is surmounted by a well-carved and expressive spread-wing eagle perched upon a rocky outcrop, a classic motif of the Regency period symbolising strength and vigilance.
The lower section is decorated with carved scrolling acanthus ornament, balancing the composition and enhancing its decorative appeal.
The surface retains a good mellow gilt finish with some natural wear and patina consistent with age, adding to its authenticity and charm.
