A decorative Italian walnut framed cheval mirror dating from the mid-20th century, designed in the Victorian taste.
The tall rectangular mirror plate with an arched top is set within a moulded walnut frame, surmounted by an attractive pierced and carved crest of scrolling foliage centred by a shell motif.
The mirror is supported between a pair of turned walnut uprights with pointed finials and can be tilted to adjust the viewing angle. The uprights are united by a shaped stretcher and raised on a substantial base with scrolling supports and swept feet.
A handsome full-length dressing mirror with good warm colour, the elaborate carved crest and elegant proportions giving it considerable decorative appeal.
