This elegant Regency occasional table dates to circa 1825 and is a fine example of the restrained sophistication characteristic of the period. Constructed in richly figured mahogany, the table is topped with an octagonal surface, beautifully enhanced by delicate satinwood stringing that follows the outline of the top, providing a subtle yet refined decorative contrast.
The top is supported on a slender, turned central column, rising gracefully from a well-balanced tripod base. The elegant sabre legs are finely shaped, tapering gently to their terminals and contributing to the table’s light and refined appearance. The proportions are particularly pleasing, giving the piece an air of delicacy while retaining excellent stability.
Versatile in its use, this table would serve equally well as a lamp table, wine table, or occasional side table in a sitting room, bedroom, or hallway. Its modest scale and refined design allow it to blend seamlessly into both traditional and eclectic interiors.
