Description
A rare and lovely Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian “Burmese” Glass Epergne of well balanced design, with four scalloped, tapered flutes, each with applied trailing decoration, and three matching baskets suspended from their original “shepherd’s crook” canes, the whole ensemble rising from an attractive scalloped round tray. Sourced in the English Midlands, this piece was probably produced by “Thomas Webb and Sons” of Stourbridge, Worcestershire, under the licence granted to them in 1885 by the Mount Washington Glass Company of Massachusetts, the original inventors of the process.
