Description

An attractive Edwardian mahogany display cabinet of elegant proportions, decorated throughout with delicate floral marquetry and satinwood inlay.

The upper glazed section features a moulded cornice above a single glazed door with decorative shaped astragal glazing bars, enclosing two shelves and a fabric-lined interior. The glazed sides allow additional light into the cabinet, making it ideal for displaying porcelain, glassware or other decorative objects.

The lower section has a serpentine front with a single drawer fitted with brass handles, above a pair of panelled cupboard doors, each beautifully decorated with floral marquetry and scrolling foliate inlay. The cabinet stands on square tapering legs terminating in spade feet.

A charming and practical example of Edwardian cabinetmaking, combining attractive decorative detail with useful display and storage space.

English, circa 1900.
