Description

This elegant Regency canterbury dates to circa 1825 and is a fine example of early 19th century English craftsmanship, combining practicality with refined design. Constructed in richly figured mahogany, the piece features a shaped top rail incorporating a central handhold, flanked by gently curved rails that give the canterbury its distinctive and graceful outline.

The interior is divided by vertical slats, designed originally for the storage of sheet music, books or folios, and retains excellent proportions for modern use. The lower section houses a single drawer, fitted with turned brass knobs, offering additional and discreet storage.

Raised on turned supports terminating in brass castors, the canterbury is both sturdy and easily movable, reflecting its intended function as a practical yet elegant domestic furnishing. The turned legs and uprights are well balanced and contribute to the overall lightness and symmetry of the design.
