A good pair of Victorian solid mahogany hall chairs dating from circa 1860, each featuring a finely carved shield-shaped back with scrolling cresting and decorative foliate detail.
Raised on well-turned front legs with elegant swept rear supports, the chairs retain their attractive figured solid mahogany seats which have acquired a rich, warm patina through years of use. The backs display excellent quality carving with a bold, architectural silhouette typical of the mid-Victorian period.
