A particularly elegant 18th-century mahogany lamp or wine table, the one-piece top with a beautifully carved piecrust rim and excellent rich colour and patination. The tilt-top mechanism is original, the underside retaining its period block and catch.
The finely carved wrythen column tapers to a well-shaped knop above lappet-carved knees, terminating in three out-swept cabriole legs of good stance and refinement. Minor old repairs to the rim, entirely consistent with age and use.
A genuine Chippendale-period small table with superb surface and movement—an ideal accent piece for a refined Georgian interior.
