19th Century Chinese Writing Desk SAI4124

A beautifully carved late‑Qing Chinese writing desk, crafted in Huan wood and dating to around 145 years old. This elegant five‑drawer example originates from Lin Hai City in the south of China and showcases the refined craftsmanship of the period. The drawer fronts are richly carved with nature‑inspired scenes, each panel displaying crisp detail and a warm, time‑softened patina. The central apron features an intricate openwork geometric design. The wood has developed a deep, mellow tone through age and use. Original metal ring pulls remain in place, each with a pleasingly worn surface that speaks to the desk’s long life. A characterful and authentic piece of Chinese furniture, practical in scale, rich in detail, and full of historic charm.
