An exceptional late 17th-century Kingwood oyster-veneered chest of drawers, dating to circa 1690 and presented in superb showroom condition. Attributed to the renowned cabinet maker Thomas Pistor, this highly decorative chest is an outstanding example of the sophisticated English cabinet-making of the period.
The chest features the distinctive two short over two long drawer configuration, beautifully veneered throughout in richly figured Kingwood oyster veneers, creating a dramatic and intricate radiating pattern. Further enhanced with rosewood cross-banding, adding depth and definition to the elaborate veneer work.
Constructed with a solid oak carcas and finely dovetailed drawers. Raised on four substantial bun feet.
