Description
Arts & Crafts oak writing desk by James Phillips & Sons Ltd, Union Street, Bristol c1900, having an overhanging breakfront top over two leaded green glazed doors either side of a fall front writing slope which when opened reveals a black leather writing surface with an assortment of pigeon holes and two small drawers. The central kneehole is below an overhanging rectangular top with twin pull-out bookrests and sets of three graduated drawers and stands on square section legs with spreading feet. The ‘Stones Patent’ is the mechanism which requires the fall front writing slope to be unlocked and opened for the drawers to unlock. In good condition.
