AVictorian golden oak library chair dating from around 1870, of generous proportions and exceptional quality. The chair features a beautifully figured, shaped solid oak back with broad swept arms supported by elegant carved scroll brackets and sturdy rear supports.
The generously proportioned seat has been traditionally upholstered in rich green hide leather, finished with close-set brass studwork, providing both comfort and classic Victorian character. Raised on well-turned front legs with elegant splayed rear legs, the chair retains its original brass and porcelain castors, allowing it to be moved with ease.
A superb example of Victorian library furniture, this chair combines practicality with timeless style. It would make an excellent desk chair, reading chair, or occasional chair in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
