A fine quality Georgian period mahogany dressing table mirror dating from the late 18th century, beautifully constructed in richly figured mahogany with contrasting satinwood-style crossbanding throughout.
The elegant oval mirror plate is housed within a shaped frame and supported by graceful scrolling uprights with original brass adjustment fittings, allowing the mirror to be tilted to the desired angle. The bow-fronted base is fitted with three drawers, retaining attractive ivory-coloured turned handles and a central escutcheon, all raised on delicate shaped bracket feet.
Particularly noteworthy is the original mirror plate, which displays extensive and highly decorative foxing and silvering deterioration, creating a striking aged appearance and considerable period charm. The warm colour and excellent figuring of the mahogany veneers further enhance its decorative appeal.
A handsome and increasingly sought-after Georgian dressing mirror, ideal for use on a chest of drawers, dressing table or sideboard.
Condition:
Good antique condition with minor marks and wear commensurate with age and use. Original mirror plate with foxing.
