A fine quality late 19th century Louis XVI style side table of elegant proportions, richly veneered in kingwood and tulipwood with beautifully arranged parquetry panels.
The serpentine front is fitted with three drawers, each finely veneered and mounted with ornate gilt bronze (ormolu) handles and escutcheons. The shaped frieze is further enhanced with decorative ormolu mounts, echoed by finely cast mounts running down the cabriole legs and terminating in delicate sabots.
The top displays particularly attractive figuring and tonal contrast, framed by crossbanding and a gilt metal moulded edge, giving the piece a refined and decorative presence. The overall design is both graceful and versatile, making it an ideal console or occasional table for a hallway, sitting room, or bedroom.
