A good quality late 19th century mahogany stool of elegant proportions, raised on finely shaped cabriole legs and united by a decorative frieze centred with carved shell motifs. The frame displays a pleasing warmth of colour and patina, with carved detailing to the knees adding refinement and depth.
The rectangular seat is upholstered in a charming crewel work style fabric, featuring a delicate floral design in soft, muted tones. The upholstery is finished with a decorative braided trim, which neatly frames the seat and complements the rich mahogany beautifully.
Inspired by the Louis XVI taste, the stool combines graceful lines with practical use, making it ideal as a dressing stool, bedroom seat, or occasional piece within both traditional and contemporary interiors. circa 1880
