A fine George III mahogany bowfront dressing / side table dating to circa 1790, of elegant proportions and excellent colour throughout. The shaped bowfront top is beautifully figured and crossbanded, retaining a rich, warm patina that enhances the natural depth and movement of the mahogany.
The piece is fitted with three drawers arranged around a gracefully arched kneehole, each drawer front inlaid with delicate boxwood stringing and retaining its original oval brass handles and escutcheons. The drawers are oak lined and run smoothly, reflecting the quality of late 18th century craftsmanship.
Raised on slender tapering legs, also inlaid with fine stringing, the table has a light and refined stance typical of the period. The bowfront form adds both softness and architectural interest, making it an elegant and practical piece suitable for use as a dressing table, writing table or refined side table.
A particularly attractive example of late 18th century English furniture, combining understated classical detailing with excellent colour and proportion.
