A particularly attractive Edwardian elm coffee table dating from around 1900, distinguished by its generously sized solid elm top with a finely shaped scalloped edge. The surface displays excellent colour and grain, with a warm honeyed tone and a pleasing, time-worn patina developed through years of use. Subtle surface marks and variations in the timber add to the table’s character and authenticity.
The table stands on four elegant cabriole legs terminating in rounded pad feet, giving the piece a light and graceful appearance despite its robust construction. The legs are united by turned stretchers forming a strong and visually appealing cross frame, ensuring excellent stability while adding further period detail.
Well-proportioned and versatile, this table works equally well as a coffee table or a low centre table, suitable for both traditional and more relaxed contemporary interiors. A fine example of Edwardian craftsmanship in elm, offering both practicality and timeless appeal.
