A charming small early 19th century giltwood mirror, featuring a beautifully preserved verre églomisé (reverse-painted glass) tablet depicting a pastoral scene with two children and a dog in a rural landscape. This engaging and colourful image is framed by a bold cornice above and flanked by robust, spiral-turned columns with acanthus-carved capitals and bases.
The glass plate below shows pleasing age-appropriate wear and light foxing, all consistent with the mirror’s early 1800s origin. The gilded finish retains its warm, aged patina, enhancing the mirror’s classical appeal and authenticity.
