Willem Maris. A highly collected Dutch artist who painted landscapes some with cattle to the fore from c1862 Maris received advice from the cattle painter Pieter Stortenbeker [nl], who gave him work to copy. He maintained his landscape, sometimes experimenting with other animals, although his training on cattle show as they are the most prolific in the later part of the 19th century
