Description
A fine Victorian walnut pier cabinet, presented in excellent antique condition and retaining its original key. Beautifully veneered in richly figured walnut, the cabinet is surmounted by a moulded top above a glazed single door, framed by attractive gilt-metal mounts that lend an elegant decorative touch.
The glazed door opens to reveal a shelved interior lined in its original fabric, with walnut-fronted shelves providing an attractive backdrop for displaying porcelain, silver, books or other treasured collections.
Raised on a plinth base and retaining a wonderful warm colour and patina throughout, the cabinet showcases the beautifully figured veneers and quality craftsmanship for which Victorian burr walnut furniture is so highly regarded.
The interior fabric lining displays some marks and fading consistent with age and use, adding to the cabinet’s authenticity and character without detracting from its overall appearance.
A highly decorative and practical Victorian display cabinet, equally suited to a drawing room, dining room, hallway or study.
