A superb Victorian rosewood credenza, richly adorned with Wedgwood‑style plaques depicting classical figures in relief, each set within gilt frames that lend the piece a refined neoclassical air. The central doors are veneered in striking chevron‑patterned rosewood, bordered by satinwood crossbanding and finished with delicate ormolu mounts and beaded gilt mouldings.
Inside, the cabinet is fitted with two removable black shelves, allowing the interior to be arranged to suit. Flanking the centre are glazed display cabinets with glass to the front and both sides, all edged with gilt beaded moulding that catches the light beautifully. Additional Wedgwood medallions enrich the upper frieze, adding balance and decorative interest.
Standing on turned feet and finished throughout with high‑quality detailing, this is a beautifully made credenza with exceptional presence — a fine example of mid‑19th‑century craftsmanship, combining rich timbers, classical ornament, and elegant proportions.
