Description
SOLD 20th cent modernist teak and rosewood centre table.
This 20th cent modernist teak and rosewood centre table really caught my attention. Made in the 1960s. As a fine cabinet and chairmaker myself, I couldn’t help but be drawn to the craftsmanship and design of this truly stunning modernistic creation. The top face is figured teak, with book matched quartered panels creating triangular veins apexing towards the centre. A dark grained cross visually quartering the top face. The top is banded with 12 1/4 inch laminated strips of teak. Creating concentric rings that border the circumference of the table with near four inches of laminated banding. Stunning folly. ! See picture 4. The top edge thins with chamfer from about two inches in from the underside, the main top thickness is about an inch with a chamfered edge to 3/4inch. The quatrefoil solid laminated blocked base is faced with panels of book matched patterned rosewood. Reeded end teak pillars raised on a deep chrome surrounding plinth.
