These are a set of 36 beautifully made PROOF limited edition Churches of Britain issued one a month over three years in the mid 1970’s in a strictly limited edition complete in their beautifully made wooden display trays. Each one is fully hall marked on the edge and weighs just over 40g of English sterling silver. These sell online for £45-£60 EACH and we have sold individual ones from another set for up to £60 each.
There is another set available on an internet auction site for £1,670.
The front of each medallion carries an image of the church or cathedral together with its name and the reverse side of each medallion has a brief description of its history or special feature.
We are offering the full set complete with a blue binder that has additional information about each church as well as a watercolour image printed on each card.
Silver is a good investment at the moment as it is 50% down from it’s all time high of £30/0z and we have been following the silver price since 2011. The price will achieve and exceed that all time high in coming years.
Please note that each medallions is encased in the original plastic capsule as issued over forty years ago.
Please note that 3 of the capsules have been replaced as they split/cracked due to age but this does not affect the medallion.
There are some minor blemishes and tarnish which is caused by interaction with the capsule over several decades.
