A superb Samuel Withers & Co. safe of West Bromwich, presented in excellent antique condition and retaining both original working keys for the main door. The safe stands on its purpose-made metal stand, giving it an attractive presence and a practical working height while also enhancing its industrial character. The safe has a classic black-painted exterior, enhanced by brass fittings, including a distinctive brass handle modelled as a hand gripping a baton and a matching brass keyhole plate. A prominent oval brass maker’s plaque to the front clearly states the Withers trade mark, underscoring its authenticity and historical significance. Inside, the safe remains tidy and fully functional, with surfaces showing only the gentle, honest wear expected from more than a century of use. It features a fitted lockable drawer, complete with its original working key, offering secure internal storage. The inside of the door retains its colourful Samuel Withers & Co. Ltd label, a charming and rarely surviving detail that adds both provenance and period character.
